Lampeter Community Preschool

Relationship to the Church
The preschool is a non-profit organization sponsored by the Lampeter Church of the Brethren. The preschool is a mission of the church and is responsible to the Congregational Forum. A Leadership Team member acts as a liaison to the Preschool Committee.

Mission
The Lampeter Community Preschool seeks to provide a loving and caring environment in which the child can joyfully adjust to being away form home, learn to share with others, and develop an enthusiasm for learning.

Aims

  • To affirm the uniqueness of each child
  • To encourage positive development socially, emotionally and spiritually.
  • To develop positive relationships with teachers and peers.
  • To offer creative play to learn basic skills.

Meet Our Preschool Staff

 Mrs. Carrie Denlinger

Mrs. Denlinger has been teaching preschool for the past seven years.  Prior to that, she taught fifth and sixth grades at York Suburban School District and ELanCo School District.  She went to Penn State University and received her Master's Degree in Education while at Millersville University. 

Currently, Mrs. Denlinger teaches a three-year-old class and two pre-kindergarten classes, as well as serving as the Program Director of Lampeter Community Preschool.  She is active with the Transition to Kindergarten initiative among Lancaster County early childhood professionals and school districts.

She lives in L-S School District with her husband, Joe, and two children, Carleigh and Peyton.  They have a Yorkshire Terrier named Bogey.  In her free time, Mrs. Denlinger enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, gardening and reading.

 

Mrs. Julie Kirchner

Mrs. Kirchner was born in Berea, OH and moved to Lancaster when she was six years old.  She enjoys working with children and went to Millersville University to become a teacher.  She has worked at a few local daycare centers and taught at Head Start before having children.

Mrs. Kirchner lives in the L-S School District with her husband, Steven, and their three children,Veronica, Jacklyn and Joshua.  In her free time she enjoys reading and playing piano.

 

Mrs. Stacy McEligot

Mrs. McEligot teaches the two and three-year-old classes.  She lives in West Lampeter with her husband and two school-age daughters.  Prior to moving to Pennsylvania in 2004, Mrs. McEligot lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland. 

Her background is in teaching and clinical social work.  Mrs. McEligot enjoys spending time with her family and reading.

 

Mrs. Holly Heyser

Mrs. Heyser is in her first year working at the Lampeter Community Preschool and  is the assistant teacher for the 2-year-old class.  She is also a Pre-K/Kindergarten Sunday school teacher at her church in Millersville.  Mrs. Heyser has a degree in elementary education and taught third grade in the Ephrata Area School District for four years.  She has been a homemaker for seven years.

Mrs. Heyser lives in Strasburg with her husband, Bill, and their three children, Billy, beau and Bella.  Beau and Bella currently attend the Lampeter Community Preschool. She says, "I love working with children and look forward to my time with the 2-year-olds!"

 

Mrs. Kristen Thomas 

Mrs. Thomas has been a helper at preschool for 5 years.  She lives in Willow Street with her husband Ben, two girls Veronica and Victoria, and two dogs named Princess and Jasmine.  Kristen likes scrapbooking, vacationing in the Outer Banks and spending time with her family.  Kristen grew up in the Solanco area and loves spending time with preschool children now that her own children are getting bigger.  She is a Sagitarius.
