Children’s Ministry

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”

Lampeter Church of the Brethren is very committed to our Children’s Ministry. Every child is valued and provided the opportunity to learn about God and serve the community. The Children’s Ministry programs include Children’s Sunday School, Children’s Wednesday Night Happenings Classes, Cherub Choir, Kids Club Choir, Junior Church, Nursery and Children’s Special Events.

Children’s Sunday School meets each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and is grouped according to age. Classes begin at age two and continue through 5th grade. A curriculum entitled “Gather Round” allows children to hear and share God’s good news through the Bible in a variety of ways which include the uses of stories, songs, drama, crafts and games.

Children’s Wednesday Night Happenings Classes will meet from October through mid-April from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. Attending Lampeter Church of the Brethren on Wednesdays is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship. Dinner is provided for families from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for a small fee. Classes are taught with the “Gather Round” curriculum and they reinforce the Biblical messages learned during Children’s Sunday School.

Children's Stories are offered each Sunday as part of the 8:45 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services. Our church family consists of people of all ages, and we feel it is important to make each person of our faith community feel welcome and included in our worship services. We provide activity bags filled with quiet play items for the children to use during the sermon or other quiet times during the worship services. We also offer children's bulletins. Of course, we encourage the children to sing with us and participate in as much of the service as they are capable of doing.

Nursery care is provided on Sundays at both the 8:45 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. services and at 10:00 a.m. during the Sunday School hour. Loving staff also cares for babies and toddlers in the nursery from 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Children’s Special Events throughout the year are a great opportunity for fellowship and outreach. Celebrations for seasonal events and holidays such as Back to School Sunday, a Family Harvest Party, a Christmas Party and an Easter Party are some of the activities that take place each year. Children participate in outreach projects that include sponsorship of a boy and girl through Compassion International, making blankets for local children with disabilities and creating cards for people in need of encouragement.
